My Second 5K

Back in May Katy and I did our 2nd 5k together

I had worked really hard before hand to be

able to beat our time from our 1st 5k

And despite the freezing cold, rain and wind

I'm proud to say we beat our time

by FIVE minutes

It was miserable weather but it ended up being

a great race.

I've never been so glad to take a hot shower- haha

Favorite painting

For my birthday this year my friend Stacy treated 

me to a painting class.

We had a great time, this is my favorite picture 

that I've done so far.

Mine is the red one and Stacy's is the blue one.

I hung mine up in my room, I liked it so much 

(the other two I've done are in the closet)

Sewing

I had these old mens swim shorts that I've

had for at least 5 or 6 years and were way too

big and turned them into a skirt!

Not too shabby huh?

I'm pretty proud cause I'm not good at sewing at all

Hot Corn Dip

I made this dip for a potluck recently and it seemed

to be a hit.  I got the recipe from Trisha Yearwood's

cooking show on Food Network, but after reading

some of the reviews I changed it up a bit.  This is

how I made it:

2 cans Mexican corn- drained

1 sm can diced chilies, drained

1 can Ro-tel tomatoes, drained

3/4 cup light mayo

2/3 cup parmesan cheese

8 oz grated monterey jack cheese

Mix together and put into a greased 9x13 pan

bake 40 mins at 350

Serve with tortilla chips

Spring Break with Aunt Lillie

Last week was Nash's spring break and I got

to spend a couple of days with him.  Boy did we

have fun and boy was I tried afterwards.

On Tuesday we went to story time at the library

then met up with some friends at Chick-fil-A

and played really hard on the playground, 

then off to rent a movie and get some candy.

All ready for a day of fun

So then on Thursday we headed off to Pump it up

I had never been there and neither had Nash.

It was awesome, he was so excited.

I even went down the slide with him a few times

Climbing is such hard work

He had such a great time and was so

red faced and sweaty by the end

Grumpy and tried- time to go

Then we went home to make a yummy pizza.

We added veggies to make it a little more healthy-haha

And then TONS of cheese, the best part

After lunch we decided to make homemade play dough

I'd never done that before either, it wasn't all that

easy but we figured it out.  Nash was a great helper

He was so cute, he decided to make a play dough

pizza with all the same stuff we put on our real pizza

It was so fun hanging out with him, he's a great kid

But I was glad to give him back to his parents,

I was exhausted !!!

A Birthday Surprise

In February I went out to Utah for my best friend Cali's

birthday.  She didn't know I was coming.

She had no idea about anything I had planned

for her big 40th birthday.

I got into town on Friday night and stayed

with my good friend Dawan who used to

live in Athens.  Then the next morning I got 

ready for the surprise.  I had planned with

Cali's sisters that they would come pick

her up for breakfast at 10 am that morning,

so I wanted to get there a few minutes early

that way she's be up and ready and not sleeping

or not be home.  So as I drove over to her house

I kept getting more and more excited, my

heart was beating so hard. I couldn't wait

to see her and see her surprised reaction. 

I got up to her front door and knocked and then

quickly covered up the peephole -just in case she looked

through it.  So she opened the door and instead

of just saying "Surprise"     I yelled it in her face

"SURPRISE"  

She was totally shocked, first trying to figure out who

was yelling at her and then if it really was me

standing on her front porch !

It was a great surprise, she was so happy to see me 

as I was happy to see her.

Her sisters and mom got there soon after that

and we all went to eat a yummy breakfast

then headed down town to the 

City Creek shopping center.

We had a lot of fun shopping and just hanging out.

The rest of the week was spent eating at all my favorite

places and a few new ones, getting pedi's, going to

movies and taking a painting class.

Also spending time with her family and of

course eating birthday cake and cookies !

It was a wonderful week and a fun birthday

for her.  I can't wait to see how she's gonna

top this surprise for me when I turn 40  hehe

Gotta Love Spray Paint

My patio furniture and cushions were looking

very faded and drab so I gave them a little

sprucing up with a couple of cans of 

spray paint

I was so thrilled with how they turned out that I

couldn't stop

This planter needed a little color too

Peanut Butter

I've never been a huge peanut butter LOVER

I would never eat it by the spoonful but I 

do enjoy the occasional PB&J sandwich

but peanut butter is so fattening.  Even though 

it's good fat but it's 5 WW points for just 2 Tbsp

Someone told me about this stuff called PB2

it's a powder that you mix with water and turns into

creamy peanut butter and tastes really good.

It is only 45 calories per serving (regular is 190 calories)

& it's only 1 WW point

It's a little bit more expensive then regular but I think

it's worth it if you're watching your figure & who isn't right?

It comes in chocolate too but I haven't tried that one- yet

Totally Gross

Recently I kept smelling this awful smell

every time I waked past my laundry closet.

I thought maybe a mouse had died under

the washer or dryer, so I pulled them out and

checked under them- nothing.  So I vacuumed all

the crap that had fallen under them and pushed them back.

Still frustrated and still smelling the 

bad smell I decided the smell was coming

from inside the washer.  I have a top load washer but

have seen commercials for cleansers for front

load washers and thought I'd google to see

what kind of home remedies I could find to

clean my washer.

It was easy and worked pretty well 

(just took several hours)

My washer smells better but not great so I

think I'll try this again in a week or so.

I also scrubbed the inside under all

 the nooks and crannies.

It was totally gross.  I was shocked to see

how dirty my washer was and this is

where I put my clothes to get clean.

I'm sure if you try this and start cleaning

out your washers you'll be shocked too at how

TOTALLY GROSS

it really is

Eyelash Extensions

I went to Utah last week and learned how

to do eyelash extensions.  It was fun

but way harder then I thought it would be.  

I worked on several models and did

two from start to finish by myself.  

I also got some put on me.

I love them, it's so nice to not have to 

worry about putting mascara on.

Save your money girls, they are awesome &

you're gonna want some

Painting Class

I went to a painting class in Utah with my friend

Cali.  It was a lot of fun, she had never

done one before.  I really like this painting better

then the one I did last year.  We were the only ones

in the class and it was nice to have personal instruction.

this is my finished Valentine Tree

I'm pretty talented if I do say so myself

Turning "3"

Lexie turned 3 the day after Christmas.

She got a new dog bed and a humiliating

picture in this birthday hat.

I can't believe she is no longer a puppy, 

but she is definitely the best dog.

I totally adore her
