Re-decorated Room

This is my guest room. It used to be blue and yellow.

I thought it needed a change. So I made it blue and red.

The cool thing is I re-used stuff I already had around the

house. All I had to buy was $5 in fabric to make the curtains.

Looks pretty good if I do say so myself!

Halloween 2011

It's that time of year again to dress up the dogs and

get a good laugh.

My friend Beckie helped me make Lola's costume

this year. She is a cute little flower.

She actually started to love (well like) wearing it!!

This is my little bumble bee and flower

I decided to dress up this year and go to the

trunk-or-treat at Stacy's ward with

my nephew.

So I put on my angel wings and halo

and became a "holy cow"

Nash dressed up as a golfer.

Ready for a hole in one.

A golfer and a cow walk into a bar. . .

Oh maybe you've already heard that one

Easy Recipes

Thanks to Pinterest I found a couple of really easy 

recipes with 4 or less ingredients.  

They turned out pretty good too!!

 Pumpkin muffins:

1 box yellow cake mix

1 can of pumpkin

a few chocolate chips

Mix together, put in muffin papers,

sprinkle chocolate chips on top

bake 350 degrees 20-25 mins

Hawaiian Chicken:

3 chicken breasts

1 can drained pineapple

1 jar of hawaiian marinade

(I used Kroger brand, they suggested Target brand)

cook in crockpot on low for 4-5 hours

Shread chicken and serve over steamed rice.

Cars, Prayers & Dads

I had a very interesting day today. I wanted to run to the

beauty supply store real quick before I had

to get ready for work. So I loaded the dogs in the car.

After getting my stuff I went out

to my car and it wouldn't start. It had been giving me some

trouble with not wanting to start for about a month,

but I could always get it going. Not this time.

So I called my dad and he said he was on his way.

After trying to start it off and on for about an hour

while waiting for my dad to get there, I decided I needed

some more help, so I said a little prayer.

I normally wouldn't pray about something like

"Please start my car." I usually pray for things like

"Please let me get there safely" or "Please don't let this truck hit me"

after all the Lord is not a mechanic, & I feel like

He has more important prayers to be answering.

But I did it anyway.

My dad arrived with some reinforcement, he brought his

neighbor who knows more about cars then my dad does.

I was never so glad to see my dad in my whole life.

They finally got it started long enough to get

it to the auto repair place.

So I dropped it off and went home to wait for the diagnosis.

My dad thought it might be the starter. Which is not cheap.

He was guessing it might cost close to $500.

Crap that is a lot of money.

Good thing I just got a check from my roommate

which means I would only have to take a little bit

out of savings to cover it.

So I was prepared for the worst but still hoped for the best.

But when the mechanic called he said it was

just the battery. Which ended up being 1/5 the price of

what I thought it might be.

So after all was said and done, my pray was answered.

My car did get started, and things did work out

better then I could have imagined.

Even though I only prayed for my car to start,

the Lord blessed me more then what I had asked for.

It's amazing how aware He is of us.

I am grateful for the love showed to me today

by both my earthly father and Heavenly Father.

I'm a lucky girl!!!

(This is me right after I first bought my car in

2003. Yes my hair was way shorter

and I was a lot skinnier!!!)

LABOR day

This Labor day weekend I decided to take it literally &

I did a lot of laboring around the house.

I have a roommate moving in this week so I had

a lot of organizing and cleaning up to do.

I didn't take a lot of before pictures, but you can just

imagine how messy closets get before you feel

like they need some organizing.

This is my newly organized hall closet.

This closet is the "after"

I had to condense two closets into one,

so this is as good as it gets.

This is the spare bathroom. I wanted to change the

shower curtain for my new roommate. The old one was

hard to slide on the rod. It was extra tall so

when I took it down it ripped the paint and some

of the wall off and I was not able to hide it.

The numbers on my mailbox were falling off,

so I decided to get new ones. Of course the

parts of the stickers that were still sticking were

extremely stuck. It took forever to get most of the

sticky stuff off. I did the best I could.

Happy Labor Day!!

Trip to Utah 2011

I went to Utah for a week in August.

It was a week full of eating, shopping and pampering.

When I bought my plane ticket, I didn't pay much

attention to the time that my plane left GA. I was

just excited about what time I landed in SLC.

It took off at 6:15 am which means I had to leave at 4:00am

and get up at 3:30am. Needless to say I never really even fell asleep.

(And did I mention I was sleeping on my parents couch)

So I was extremely tried the next day.

When I got to Utah Cali picked me up and we went to breakfast.

Then back to her house for a quick shower and off to get facials.

We went to a beauty school for the facials and had students do them.

It was the best facial I have ever had and it was cheap.

Then a little shopping and dinner at Cafe Rio (my fav)

and then I went to bed early.

After 14 hours of sleep I was refreshed and ready to go.

Since it was Sunday we hung around watching T.V and then to

Cali's parents for dinner and family time.

On Monday I took Cali to work and I went to get a

deep tissue massage. Ouch!! my back was a tight mess.

But it felt much better after that.

That night we went to Training Table

(one of my favs) and then to see

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor dreamcoat

at Hale theater. It was fabulous!

On Tuesday we went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple

to do baptisims. It's a beautiful Temple.

We then went to lunch and to see the church

movie "17 Miracles". Its about the last handcart company to

come to the Salt Lake valley.

It was so good, I recommend seeing it when it comes

out on video.

On Wednesday we rode Trax into SLC.

It was quite the adventure. Before we got to our 3rd

stop, the train stopped and announced that there

was an incident up ahead and we had to wait awhile.

Then we found out that a women was hit

and killed by the train going southbound.

People were saying she jumped in front of the train.

I actually saw her body covered up with a white sheet

laying on the tracks when we rode by.

So sad!

While we were downtown we went to The Garden for

lunch and took in the views of the city and Temple Square.

The Hotel Utah or now known as Joseph Smith Memorial bldg

is 100 years old this year, so they had some displays of

famous people who had been there, some of the old dishes,

fashions from that time period and the kind of cars

they had then.

At Temple Square in the visitors center they have this

replica of the Salt Lake Temple. It shows what is on each floor.

There were a lot of people there looking at it.

These two ladies who apparently are not familiar with the

temple saw the oxen underneath the baptismal font

and said "Why do they have cows in the basement?"

"We need to find out why there are cows in the basement"

It was pretty funny!

I thought it was cool.

We decided to go bowling, we both claimed to be

bad bowlers. We actually tied our first game 81/81

Not too bad, but then I kicked butt the second game!

It was a fun trip but I got homesick and couldn't wait

to get back to these cute faces!
